The Marka Valley Trek...!
Known for its scores of flora and fauna, and, the
breeding ground for the endangered Snow leopard. After crossing
the high pass, the Ganda La, 4900m, you then enter the Markha
valley.Wading the river several times you walk up the valley
past extraordinary rock strata and numerous ruined fortresses
dating back to the 6th century, or earlier. Leaving the
valley you gradually climb to the high altitude Yak pastures
of Nimaling 4700m, from where it is only a couple of hours
walk to reach the base camp of Kang -Yatse 6,400m.A zig-zag
path meanders up from Nimaling to the highest pass on trek,
the Kongmaru La, 5,200m for superb views north into the
Tibet plateau, the Karakoram mountains to the north west,
and the Ladakh range to the south. After you end the trek
at Martselang, our jeeps waiting there to drive you back
to Leh via Hemis,Thiksey and Shey monastery.
Itinerary:
Day 01 Arrive in Delhi, transfer to domestic
airport to take an early morning flight to Leh. It is an
hour spectacular flight to Leh,on arrival check in hotel,
and rest of the day for acclimatization.
Day 02: Half day sightseeing
of around Leh.
Day 03: Full day sightseeing
of Alchi Likir and Rizdong Monastery
Day 04: Trek starts from Spituk to Zingchen 5hrs
,camp at 3400m
Day 05: Zingchen to Yurutse 5hrs. camp at 4140m.
Day 06: Yurutse to Skiu over Ganda-la pass (4900m.)
6hrs.camp at 3300m.
Day 07 Skiu to Markha 7hrs. camp
at 3710m.
Day 08 Marka to Thuachungtse 5hrs. camp at 4200m.
Day 09 Thuachungtse to Nimaling 3hrs. camp at
4700m.
Day 10 A rest day at Nimaling.
Day 11 Nimaling to Shang-sumdo over Kongmaru-la
5130m. 7hrs. camp at 3660m.
Day 12 Shang-sumdo to Martselang
3hrs. Drive back to Leh on way you can visit Shey and Thiksey
monastery.
Day 13 A day at leisure: Optional tours: Visit
a local Ladakhi Home, visit Oracle Cermoney or Morning prayer
at Thiksey Monasteryl.
Day 14 Fly Delhi: Optional tours: sightseeing
of old Delhi & New Delhi or Taj-Mahal at Agra for overnight.
Day15 Fly Home
